Approval to use Church Terrace Car Park twice yearly as the new location for the Mart and Statute Fairs in Wisbech including closing the car park during those events, to accommodate residential and fair equipment.
The Showman’s Guild will be licenced to use the site at fees in accordance with published scale of charges as approved by members.
Reasons for the decision:
To enable the Wisbech Statute and Mart Fairs to visit the town and hold these historic events twice yearly.
The decision is required due to the change in lease arrangements with the National Trust in relation to Chapel Road Car Park which has been the location of these fairs in previous years.
Alternative options considered:
Alternative locations were considered including Somers Road Car park and the Wisbech Park.
A public consultation was held, and Church Terrace was the preferred option.
